Our cabin in North Carolina was blessed with 24 inches of snow

No, we were not there but our neighbor, Mary Alice, sent photos of what we were missing.

Alzheimer's Shades of Gray

This Zentangle reminds me of the signs and symptoms of Alzheimers. As flowers lose their petals, Alzheimer victims lose their memory, develop language problems, have mood swings and personality changes. Soon they are not able to perform daily living activities and then they continue to progressively decline. I have added a blue/purple bead to the cluster of black beads to represent HOPE for a cure before the flower is gone

Another Beginning

The May Alzheimer Priority Quilt auction brought about a very unusual twist. Two bidders wanted the A NEW BEGINNING quilt and ended the bidding seconds apart. Ami thought both should have a quilt and asked that I make a second quilt. ANOTHER BEGINNING is dedicated to Captain Jack McConnell of the New York City Fire Department.

This is a photo of my latest Alzheimer Priority Quilt. I have dedicated it to Ada M. Richard, RN.
Mrs. Richard graduated from Nursing in the mid 1930's and worked her whole life. When she no longer could live at home she was admitted to a facility that had a dementia/Alzheimer Unit. One afternoon she called her daughter-in-law and stated she was sitting at the nurses station where she had interviewed for a job and was going to accept the position. She was well over 80 years old at the time.....she had a new beginning.
